nmsa 2021 executive board nominations

This is an open call for nominations for the elections of leadership positions in the Nonprofit Management Student Association (NMSA). 


We are accepting nominations from current students for the below positions:

  • President
  • Vice President, Special Events
  • Vice President, Professional Development
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Director of Communications
  • Director of Online Engagement

Review the responsibilities of each position eligibility requirements below:

You may nominate a candidate for more than one position, and you do not need to nominate someone for every role. You are permitted to nominate yourself, with the provision of justifying your self-nomination in writing below. You need at least one nomination to become a candidate for a position.

Nonprofit Management Student Association (NMSA)

Roles & Responsibilities


Benefits:

  • Develop your leadership skills.
  • Get involved at Columbia beyond classes. 
  • Give back to the Columbia community and beyond.
  • Work with the Nonprofit Management Program (NOPM) leadership team.
  • Future board members may be expected to attend all monthly meetings and at least 50% of NMSA events each semester). 
    • The NMSA leadership meets an average of once per month for 1.5 hours either in-person or via Zoom call. The bylaws require meetings at least once per semester. Build friendships with Program faculty and students. 
    • Receive a stole for graduation.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as welcoming ambassadors of the Nonprofit Management Program to fellow students, faculty, and staff and uphold the by-laws of NMSA. 
  • Make an effort to attend as many NMSA officer meetings and events as your schedule allows, attendance is encouraged but not mandatory. (Note: the 2019-20 board will vote to change this bylaw in September)
  • Attend the Nonprofit Management Program and SPS Student Life events when possible. 


Requirements:

  • All officers must be currently enrolled in at least six credits toward their Master’s Degree.
  • All officers must be available to meet at least once a month either in person or via conference call.
  • Officers must be enrolled in classes at least half time for two out of the three semesters for which they serve.
  • If an officer graduates after two semesters, he or she is expected to continue to serve the remainder of his or her term.
  • Officers must maintain good academic standing or they will forfeit their position.
  • Terms shall begin October 1 and end the following September 30. 
  •  All Officer positions are voluntary and without compensation.
