positions

PRESIDENT

  • Preside at all meetings of the organization and its executive board.
  • Enforce the constitution and its by-laws through board governance.
  • Be familiar with all the activities of the organization.
  • Be the primary liaison with NOPM leadership and the NMSA Faculty Advisor. 
  • Administer financial proceedings in the absence of the Treasurer.
  • Assist the Secretary with the election process the following September.
  • Ensure NMSA complies with all SPS Student Life rules and regulations.
  • Attend monthly President’s meetings, or delegate an officer to attend. 

VICE PRESIDENT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Be knowledgeable of all aspects of the organizational activities.
  • Fulfill the President’s responsibilities in their absence.
  • Secure participants for summer symposium
  • Plan and coordinate all professional development events. 
  • Be the point of contact for AFP New York and other membership organizations. 

VICE PRESIDENT SPECIAL EVENTS

  • Be knowledgeable of all aspects of organizational activities. 
  • Head up summer symposium with Director of Communications
  • Plan and coordinate all special events.
  • Plan and coordinate at least one annual volunteer event. 
  • Be a liaison with SPS Student Life, Nonprofit Management Program leadership, and outside vendors as needed. 

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS

  • Maintain all social media platforms.
  • Maintain NMSA website
  • Create graphics and market summer symposium event
  • Keep students informed of all events and activities via social media and the mailing list hosted on MailChimp.
  • Build community engagement through social media.
  • Assist with the planning of events and activities as needed. 

DIRECTOR OF ONLINE ENGAGEMENT

  • Be in the online cohort or plan to take 75% (9) of their classes online/in hybrid format. 
  • Integrate an online component to current NMSA events.
  • Create new online events.
  • Foster an online community with the Communications Director. 
  • Work with operations and other parties to ensure a smooth digital event experience. 

SECRETARY

  • Be responsible for creating agendas, taking minutes, and distributing meeting materials to fellow officers.
  • Schedule meetings and assist with event scheduling as needed. 
  • Managing the election process the following September with the assistance of the President. 
    • If the Secretary is running for office for the following year, another officer who is not running, or the student government representative for the Nonprofit Management program, will manage the election process.

TREASURER

  • Create and manage the annual budget.
  • Be responsible for maintaining accurate records of funds.
  • Be the primary liaison with SPS Student Life to obtain funding for events, get approval for reimbursements and the annual budget.
  • Collect and disperse the funds of the organization, subject to the approval of the President.
  • Be responsible for the scholarship application and award process with support from the President and Communications Director.
